The Coastal gunning zone of New Jersey is one of the most diverse habitats to be found on the east coast. This offers the gunner many opportunities from gunning up against a sod bank to anchoring 200 yards offshore in the middle of a tidal flat. The coastal bays of New Jersey offer the waterfowler hundreds of thousands of acres of marshes, islands, inlets, open tidal flats.

Ducks commonly found in our marshes include Mallard, Black duck, Bufflehead,Mergansars, Scaup (Bluebills or Broadbills), Golden Eye, Widgeon, Teal, Redhead, Canvasback, Oldsquaw to name a few. We also encounter Canadian Geese and Brant in some areas. With a wealth of waterfowl in the area it is not uncommon to see hundreds if not thousands of birds per day at some parts of the season. While even with thousands of birds in the area at one time it is difficult to guarantee success, we make it a priority to offer you our best efforts on every hunt.

The area we choose for your individual hunt depends on weather conditions, wind direction, tides and bird migrations.

While some guides prefer to hunt for one species or variety at one time, we believe that your best chances for a successful hunt lie in diversity. In any one day we may harvest a variety of puddle ducks, divers, and geese or brant. Some days one species may dominate the harvest. By constantly being on or near the water we are able to customize our decoy spreads for optimum effectiveness. Our decoy spreads may include 6-8 different species on one day with the next day's spread only 2-3 species depending on weather and location.

In some cases we have a 2nd pickup or chase boat available so we do not have to move from our boat/blind to retrieve downed game. This way we don't disturb game around us and have the ability to take more game.
